Calling undefeated 147-pound prospect Bryant Perrella a master of efficiency is akin to calling water a little wet. After all, Perrella has finished off 13 of his 14 foes inside the distance, including the last 11.

Bryant Perrella (14-0, 13 KOs) will look to continue that streak September 27 when he takes on Cuba’s Yordenis Ugas (16-3, 7 KOs) at Buffalo Thunder Resort and Casino in Sante Fe, New Mexico, in another Toe-to-Toe Tuesdays clash on Fox Sports 1 (8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT).

The bout, which is slated for 10 rounds, was originally scheduled for August 12 in Verona, New York, but Perrella was forced to withdraw because of a thumb injury. Unbeaten 147-pound prospect Jamal James replaced Perrella on short notice and proved no match for Ugas, who earned a wide unanimous decision to halt a two-fight losing skid.

“I’m excited, healthy and I’ve never been more motivated to get back in the ring,” Perrella said. “[Ugas] had a big win in his last bout, and it’s made this fight even bigger and better. He was very sharp [against James], so I know that I have to work very hard in training.

“With a great performance I can separate myself from the other prospects in the division.”

Perrella last fought on June 4, when he scored a second-round TKO of then-undefeated David Grayton in Montreal. It was Perrella’s third consecutive stoppage of two rounds or fewer, and his ninth such victory in his career.

This time, though, the 27-year-old from Fort Myers, Florida, will be facing a veteran opponent and 2008 Olympian who has never been knocked out as a pro.

Oddly enough, Ugas will be fighting for the second time in six weeks following a 27-month hiatus. Prior to facing James, Ugas suffered back-to-back losses to Emmanuel Robles and Amir Imam in February and May 2014.

All three of the 30-year-old’s defeats have come against undefeated opponents.

“I’m thankful for another opportunity to prove that I belong among the world’s best welterweights,” said Ugas, who resides in Miami. “I showed in my last fight what I can do when fully prepared and focused.

“Perrella is a good, tough fighter, but he has never seen anything like me. I am focused and ready to continue my march to the world championship.”
